The SBI has introduced sectional timings for the exams. this would limit the candidates to a particular section for certain restricted time. Now the aspirants cannot switch between the sections on their will; even when they completed the section they cannot switch to other.
The English section will have 30 questions and each must be attempted within 20 minutes, while both quantitative aptitude and reasoning ability sections would consist of 35 questions each to be attempted in 20 minutes per section.
“Earlier candidates used to invest more time in quant and reasoning sections. Now they will have to invest time in each section as if it is an individual exam and English would be the deciding factor. As English would get its due focus students would also have to prepare for it accordingly. In the new pattern, there would be no sectional cut-off and English being more scoring can help take the overall score high,” says Abhishek Patil, educationist and CEO, co-founder at Oliveboard, an online preparation portal.
He further suggested that one has to take a look at the section and take no more than 0.67 minutes per question for English and 0.57 minutes for other sections. “One should try to attempt easy questions first and then move up the difficulty level. This would also be a test of one’s speed. If a question is taking time, it is better to leave it rather than keep trying,” says Patil.
