Short essay on Railway Station (scene) for kids (220 words)
I went with my dad to the Thane station to receive my grandparents. The station was a lot crowded and noisy compared to what I had expected.
No sooner one enters the station, one has to jostle his way through the crowd to reach the platform. One has to climb the stairs before reaching the platform to catch the train, or to meet someone.
Almost everyone seem is looking at their watch to see when the train will arrive. the indicator at the platform shows when the next train will arrive. An announcement is also made on the speakers regarding the same.
I also saw a few hawkers on the platform, selling their wares, which adds to the confusion. Many of them go from compartment to compartment shouting ‘Tea’ or “Seng” (peanuts). They bring relief to the tired passengers in the train, but are a nuisance for those who wish to board or alight. You also see porters (coolie) helping people carrying heavy loads, who are travelling long distances. When the train is about to leave, relatives and friends who have come to see off, get of the train in a hurry.
The departure of the train brings a slight calm and makes the platform less crowded. But soon another train comes in, and the same scenes repeat all over.
