The Elephant Rope (261 words)
This is a very popular story about how people give up when faced with challenges.
Once a man was walking through an elephant camp. He spotted that the elephants were not kept in cages or held by chains. All that was holding
them back from escaping the camp was a small piece of rope tied to one of their legs. The elephants could have easily broken them off but none of them were even trying to do that.
As the man looked upon the elephants, he was completely confused. He thought, “Why the elephants didn’t just use their strength to break the rope and escape the camp? They could have easily done so, but instead, they didn’t try at all.
The man was curious to know the reason. He asked the trainer nearby. “Why are the elephants just standing there and are not trying to escape?
The trainer replied “When they were young and much smaller, we used the same rope to tie them. As they gre up, they believed that they can cannot break away, and the rope can still hold them. So they never tried to break free.
The man was surprised to know that over time, the elephants believed that it was just not possible for them to escape.
There is an important lessons for kids to learn from this story.
No matter how much the world tries to hold us back, we should always continue to believe in what we want to achieve is possible. Remember, if you think you can do it, then you can do it!
