Who should maintain the parks and gardens in Mumbai
Mumbai is one of the most populous cities in the world, but if you consider the number of parks and gardems available in the city, the number is abysmally low.
Most parents would love to take their kids to gardens, but either they are too far, or the ones that are nearby get woefully crowded in the morning and evenings.
Another major concern is that most of these gardens are not maintained properly. Most gardens have no seating arrangement, you will find trash lying around, and more importantly the various playground equipment, such as slides, swings are worn out, and waiting to be repaired.
Lot of parents feel BMC is not the best option to maintain parks and gardens in Mumbai. “BMC’s track record on maintenance of anything is so abysmal. It makes no sense for them to maintain parks and gardens in the city. The citizens who use them do a much better job,” says a parent. Read more here.
