How about doing an MTech from top engineering colleges?
To get admission to M.Tech, candidates need to have a valid GATE score. Admission to various engineering (M.Tech) programs is through Centralized Admission Process (CAP) based on your GATE scores. You will also need to have a Bachelor’s Degree in engineering (B.Tech).
M.Tech is a postgraduate degree for Engineering and Technology. ME/M.Tech can either be pursued in the normal (classroom) mode or distance mode. Its a 2 years course but the duration may vary if the degree is pursued through the distance mode.

- GATE stands for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering.
- It tests your understanding of various undergraduate subjects in Engineering and Technology.
- It’s an all-India examination conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and seven Indian Institutes of Technology.
- The exams are held online as well as offline
- GATE Score is valid for TWO YEARS from the date of announcement of the results
Are you entitled to scholarship?
Admission to postgraduate programmes with MHRD scholarship and some other government scholarships in engineering colleges is open to those who qualify in GATE examination.
Eligibility
Here’s the eligibility criteria for GATE:
- Bachelor degree holders in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture (4 years after 10+2)/Master of Computer application and those who are in the final year of such programmes.
- Master degree holders in any branch of Science/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are in the final or pre-final year of such programmes.
Can M.Tech be done part-time?
Yes, it can be done part-time. certain colleges such as IIT Bombay offer admission to candidates who can pursue M.Tech Programme part-time. IIT-B also has sponsored courses for meritorious students. Sponsored Course is of 2 years and part-time M.Tech course is of 3 years.
Does it have weightage?
Yes, they do. Its just that candidates pursuing part-time M.Tech are not eligible to take part in placement drives conducted by IIT Bombay. Candidates must have a bachelors degree in Engineering and should have a valid GATE score and/or 2 years experience.

About the Scholarship
Pursuing post-graduation can be difficult, as you need money to buy tools and components for your projects. And since it’s a full-time course, you have to be dependent on your parents for the money.
