Several students from Mumbai look to go overseas to pursue a graduation or post-graduation degree, but a lot of them can’t achieve that dream because of lack of proper guidance to help pick the right country, college and course.
Several foreign admission related workshops and seminars are held in Mumbai where students and parents get a chance to interact with experts in the field. Students are introduced to various education options available in Singapore, the UK, the US and Canada. Students are taken through the various options available to them in popular countries, and also receive detailed guidance on visa procedure and employment opportunities.
“The key considerations that one must make while shortlisting a college or course are whether one wants to go to a college or university, public or private institute, and verify the reputation of the institute, personal fit, admission requirements, faculty, facilities, financial aid and scholarships, costs and location,” says Urvashi Malik, managing director of Collegecore.
Describing Singapore as one of the preferred destinations among Indian students, Tricha Vatsa, country coordinator-India for SIM global education, said, “Due to the proximity to India and the safety levels, parents are comfortable sending their children here. Also, a growing number of private universities are tying up with the best ones in the UK and the US to replicate the courses here.” But Vatsa warned students against selecting universities without the EduTrust certification, which is administered by the Singapore government.
