Literature Festival (Lit-Fest) for Children in Mumbai: The festival hopes to rekindle the interest of kids in the written word.
We all know about Literature festivals, but never imagined it could have topics that would appeal to children.
Usually, literature festivals discuss serious/burning/political issues with authors giving their pearls of wisdom.
But these Mumbai women have started a literature festival that caters to children (aged three to 14 years). The intention is to develop reading habit among children in a fun way (no more glued to the TV or smartphone).
“Nowadays, everyone has a low attention span and reading habits are dwindling. Parents want children to grow up reading but are not sure how to go about it. Festivals like this can help develop an interest in books,” said one of the organizers.
The festival ‘Fully Booked’ is a 2-day event where children listen to Charlie And The Chocolate Factory with a generous helping of chocolate soon after, or they read a book on ballet dancing with some experience of ballet from a trained teacher.
As you can see, the idea is not to bore!
